I attended the Diablo Region 7 Concours in Livermore today as a rookie. I met 914world members Valy and Marty too. They're actually nice guys, not at all like they act here on the forum. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Gorgeous weather, lots of Porsches of all kinds, five 914's.
I missed first place by .7 point! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) Congrats to Brian for the nice win with his mint teener. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) ![]() ![]() |

Good job Curtis!
You should've received you score sheets back from the judges, which you can use as a guide for what areas to prep or do better for the next one! Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Tom /////// |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Tom /////// Hi Tom, yep, got score sheet. When I pulled in to the Show dealership lot early this am, the Show greeter lady there said I should not compete in Concourse "Street" division because that was for "original" cars. Of course I have lots of small mods. So she entered me in the "Car Show" side. Later this am, someone told me that the greeter's information was not correct, and I could "get judged" in Street class, even with the car's mods. I talked with Paul in charge, and the next thing I see are judges with clipboards swarming over my car! After an hour drive to get there this am, I never did a final wipe down clean on my car, as I thought I wasn't going to be judged. My bad. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) A little lint on the rug, dirt on my driver sill, glass smudges.... 7/10!!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Oh well, it was fun and I'll be better prepared next time. cwl |

Here in Zone 8 you could do either Wash & Shine (Interior & Exterior judged) or Street (Int, Ext, + Engine & Storage/Trunks) or if you're really anal - Full Concours (Int, Ext, Eng, Stor, + Undercarriage with & without engine/2 halves). You can enter Concours in other Zones & Regions as a PCA member, if you ever happen to have your 914 elsewhere. Were the 0.7 the total of all judged areas' deductions across several areas of 0.1 or 0.2 points deducted at each? .... or all in one area? Here in Z8 we usually do -0.1 for something only a judge would see/find, -0.2 for things easily visible, & rarely -0.3 or -0.4 for something really bad ~ & that's per sub-area on the list of things judged at each of Int, Ext, etc. So a few things can add up quickly. Even so, only -0.7 on your very first Concours is an outstanding outcome! I'm guessing that is over a total of 200 - 400 points from all judged areas too, & I've seen competitors win with more deductions down here. So figure out what Division (Street, etc.) that you want to prepare for & enter, then apply the score sheet for where to do more, & get there early enough to leave enough time to do some detailing after you drive there. Pretty much everyone is driving to the Concours, so you're not at a disadvantage driving there. So when is your next outing!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) Cheers!
