If you find a part number starting with 039, it's a 2.0 application, all else is 1.7.
Physically all 914 MPS are the same, only the internal adjustments vary for the specific engine and year application. |

Physically all 914 MPS are the same, Not quite. Early units have a different length spring extension in the casting than the rest. I'm not sure of how the update matches up to model & year. Also, internally, the 2.0 units have a spacer ring which goes between the diaphragm and the part load stop plate to provide increased range between idle/part throttle and WOT. |
