The numbers are secondary to the driving experience of course, but just curious if anyone’s ever benchmark to their conversion against a stopwatch?

Where's that WRX Wagon today? What about that Camry 45 years from now? Will they be here? Will anyone care?
Reliability, hmm... it's a bone stock '78 911 SC motor that has never been torn down or rebuilt, no clue how many miles are on it, has had the snot beat out of it for the past 10+ years at the track, survived OLOA with no failures and ran multiple 13.9s at the strip. Let that sink in, all on a 41 year old motor... How many 40+ year old Toyotas and Subarus are out there that can do the same? ZFG here, I was only providing data... My 02' WRX wagon ran 13.20 with bolt ons (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) These days if it's not a sub 13 second car it's not considered fast (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) These days if it's not a sub 13 second car it's not considered fast (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) @chi-town Keeping up the tradition. These days if it's not a sub 13 second car it's not considered fast (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Let's keep things in perspective. 2018 Toyota Camry XSE 1/4 Mile = 14.3 https://www.motortrend.com/cars/toyota/camr...st-test-review/ With fully funcitonal heat, A/C, modern crash safety, ABS, ESC, starts flawlessly at -20F and has virtually zero emissions as compared to a 914. Don't get me wrong, I love vintage cars but let's not kid ourselves, the good old days weren't so good. Modern cars do amazing things that we now take for granted. |
