A little background first.
This car is a 72 full rebuild and I bought the engine with carbs from a member. I re-worked the entire harness and everything is working fine with the exception of the fuel pump that was relocated up front. It worked great and always came on with the key and then it didn't. I pulled the tank checked the power and I have 12 + volts if grounded to the chassis but not with the ground at the pump. I did the grounding mod at the relay board to use the fuel pump relay based on Sir Andy's post. I'm using 914Rubbers new relays. When it first quit, after checking the voltage I swapped a new relay in and it worked. Then it quit again so I tried several other new relay without any luck. You can hear the relay click so it appears to work. Also when I turn on the hazards that is the relay that clicks on and off with the flashers, I thought this was odd, am I wrong? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) What else do I need to check? I'm frustrated as I was getting ready to start the car for the first time in 2.5 years. Thanks all! I would appreciate any and all advise. So I can get this thing started. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

I went to ground at the headlight and pump is now operational.
