Dear all,
as I had the ski rack offered http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...352901&st=0 I noticed the discussion and also thought about - metric screws - paint protection rubber mat I checked out today the hardware dealer for the screws and bought some fitting parts according to my originals I do have. Allen scews had not been available in the correct length, but these could be shortened easily. For the paint protection mat I noticed the original part being some sort of tissue reinforced rubber material, showing a thickness of 1,8 -2,0mm. I organized the material in the 2,O mm strength from the whole saler and punched the correct hole sizes -6 mm - after the cut-out. From the attached pics you can see the new parts - being darker - and the old originals in comparison. So if anyone is in need of these, just pm me.... easy to be shipped in an envelope. br stay safe&healthy haul Attached thumbnail(s) |

I agree with Mark that it's a good idea to post the availability of these parts here, because the screws will fit all types of rack's mounting to the rollbar underside, as may the protective pad.
And that Haul should start a member-vendor topic for the sale of the parts. Also note for our USA & Canadian members, that you may be able to source the correct size, pitch & length Allen Head Screws in SS &/or other steel from both online &/or local hardware suppliers. And Porsche Classic may also have them now too, because I think that these Allen heads were also used on the contemporary 911/912/912E/930 cars as well, that Porsche supports well (better than our 914s anyway). Old thread on screw size/thread/pitch at link below, but double check it with an actual screw before buying a bunch. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...p;hl=Bike*+Rack IMHO the best is SS Allen head or the special tool head screws because most would-be thieves won't have the tool/Allen wrench on hand, & the Hex/Flat/Phillips heads tend to get buggered-up over time. The original Allen Heads from my P-dealer sold Hardt Bike Rack & Piper/Hardt/etc. style ski racks were usually painted flat black to match the racks, or the chromed racks were chromed steel or SS - in both cases to better match the color of the racks. As sold by USA Porsche Dealers back in the `70s (these were both bought by me at Porsche+Audi in Newport Beach): 2x Ski - One side - get 2 sets for 4 skis (e.g.: downhill + XC - I borrowed an extra for that): (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-10181-1287536289.jpg) 2x Bikes - both sides - NOTE "G 6 X 16 mm Allen Bolts" at instructions (no thread type/pitch noted): (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/bowlsby.net-172-1287530446.1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/bowlsby.net-172-1287530447.4.jpg) Good Luck!
