The front and rear bumper pads of my ‘ 75 have bolts embedded into the pad. My question is whether threaded inserts hold the bolts.

Thanks Dan and Dr P; you saved me !
I have an idea for repurposing the pads for chrome bumpers without using bolts. The plan is to rout two 1” x 2” square depressions about 3/8” deep in the pad. Then insert rare earth magnets such that the pad will “stick” to the bumper. The pad wth two rare earth magnets would have a 20 lb hold; I did a variation of this with my rear license plate frame. The pads would be removable for cleaning the bumper and save the bumper from drilling new holes. |
