Doing a complete paint job. Should I preserve the original sticker or replace? Where should I get the replacement?

OK, call me stupid but I tried to locate the sticker on carbone searching 914/decals& stickers. Found every damned decal & sticker except this one. I found it quickly on the AASE sight. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) if you want to be pedantic replace the VIN with one the same colour. they were either black or silver. and they did vary slightly in layout over the years. as a side discovery from 74 1.8 L jet research we found the combos of specific paint colours to Vin stickers. they were not just randomly different colours. about halfway down this page. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...7407&st=100 but its only info for 74 cars. were not looking further afield. |

Mine was silver before I toasted it in 2009. My question was where on the carbone site is this sticker located. I know where to place it in the jamb. Tia, Kent |

Tia, Kent i just had a look on carbone. i think you are correct. they would appear not to make them anymore. old links to vin page of carbone on pelican parts forums are dead links now as well. AASE appears to have the VIN labels for 911s. they have dr porsche ing. etc written on them. 914/6s might have had those types of Vins. the 4s have VW written on them. AA appears to have the correct ones for the 4s. not sure if they have the little circles etc or how close a copy they are. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/a...LS-AND-STICKERS what year is yours? the typography does vary very slightly if you are super fussy. somewhere here there was a thread about them a little while back. with some of the variations. |
