Greetings all, I recently purchased a 1974 914 with a stock 1.8 FI I found this forum in doing research on parts and tech advice. So I signed up and here I am..

I do belong to a few other sites that are helpful with other cars and I seem to be having issues when searching ..

So it may be user error but I seem to be having trouble when search on here..

Currently trying to figure out why I have no brake lights, so I simply searched on here "No Brake Lights" or brake switches or brake lights..

I get thousands of threads and sometimes it will take me reading dozens of post's just to find anything related..

Maybe I'm searching wrong, I usually just go on the main page and hit search and type in a term..

Am I doing something wrong, any and all help is appreciated

@Van B has got pilots eyes! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

he spotted the rear badge, the metal charcoal can on fuel tank and the silver dot dials. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

yeah thats a 73 you got there @thecleanoutking . a 1.7 d-jet engine.
going off the engine and the clues above anyway.

maybe has had a set of new bumpers off a 74 fitted with the tits at both ends.

vin number would tell you. first three numbers. 473 = 73. 474 = 74.

looks like its loaded up though. console etc. probably off a 2.0
if there is little rust in it you have done well.

EDIT
it might be a real early 73 since its only got 914 on rear badge.
the first few cars of 73 were like that. no 1.7 badge fitted. if it is the last 5 numbers on the Vin will be real low.
