Front bearing / spacer help - so close to on the road
914 six almost ready to go after getting it tuned on a dyno today. More about that later. - trying to chase down the source of the shaking front end. - Vetted out wheels, tires, tie rods, shocks, bushings, rotor warpage, etc…. All good -Please see pics. It seems as if there’s a mismatch between the inner bearing and the spacer. Somethings not right but I don’t know what it is. The last true leftover problem from the previous owner. 24 mm carrera rotors, Porsche Brenbo brakes, 911 hubs, new bearings and seals. Any clue at to what’s wrong? |

Right after you do what Chris suggests spin the wheel and align the tire tread surface with a straight edge you place on the floor.
The human eye can see .001" of run out. If you have a bulge, internal tire issue, you can often see it this way. Has to pass Chris Foley's test FIRST! I set my adjustable wheel bearing clearance so there is almost no play at all. If you're using new bearings and races recheck this clearance after the first 100 miles. Most need a tiny bit of "tighten" at this point. |
