Something new as a result of of my "Clutch Pedal Stuck" thread.
While dissembling the interior, I removed the seats and the padded panel behind them. I found that the trunk release pull handle does not unscrew. Figured I'd unhook it from the trunk latch. As you can probably guess, I closed the trunk that night after calling it a day and realized what I did the next morning. I got the trunk open but Im having a hard time visualizing the assembly of the lower latch. I see how the cable goes into the metal tube and up through the spring to the retaining pin, but what keeps the spring centered on the cable? Of course I've forgotten how it goes back together. Searched the forums (worst search program I've ever used") and found nothing. In fact, I think whatever I search for I get the same results! Anyway, If anyone has or can take a picture of the assembly, under the black plastic cover, I'd appreciate it. TOny |

Tony,
There is no remote cable operated rear trunk release on a stock 914. If you have a remote cable release for the rear trunk it is not stock. There is for the frunk (front trunk) and for the engine lid. I assume you are speaking about the frunk, and not the rear trunk and not the engine lid. In general most people use the term trunk for the rear trunk, and frunk for the front trunk. Since there are two trunks it helps to use these terms to clarify which end of the car you are talking about. That will also cause some confusion when searching. To search the site more efficiently most people will use google and simply include "914World" in the search string. If you prefer, here's a link to a google programmable search engine specifically for 914World that a member designed: https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=0024083458981...772:ajvfxschcgc Here's two pictures of the frunk latch assembly: Here's some of the engine lid latch just in case that's what you are really asking about: And, of course, posting some pictures of the assembly you are asking about will help make everything clear to those of us taking the time to help you out. |
