I use to run amsoil z rod and I liked it but very expensive
Currently running vr1 but I keep hearing about driven . Driven is also expensive. Is it over thinking this for driving a few thousand miles a year and changing every season? |

Cheaper high zinc oils still costs $100 ish. I use high quality filters, drive about 1000 miles per year and change the oil once a year so over thinking it on my end. It’s getting a second change this year as tuning this year it burned extra rich early on in the process so need to change that oil out. I may ditch the Mahle filter for a MANN filter this go around after some recent threads

Bottom line - you’re guessing and making assumptions. $35 for an oil analysis gets you real data on fuel and moisture contamination (if any) plus info on metals contamination. With that data and a baseline, you can make intelligent decisions rather than just dumping oil for the sake of it. Otherwise it’s all voodoo religion / oil mythology much of which is no longer relevant with modern oil stock and additive packages. Just sayin’ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Clip from my Jeep maintenance notes: Practicing what I preach. |
