I had read about the cure-all bushing to fix the steering column play. I ordered myself one and once I began digging into it and watching some youtube videos, it seems the bushing is for later cars and doesn't work in the early cars. Does repairing this play in an early car require total disassembly? Thanks for any guidance.

Is the spring installed under the steering wheel? I had a wiggle in my steering wheel that bugged me. Upon removal of the steering wheel, the large spring that goes on before the wheel is installed was missing. Installed a spring (thanks Greg T.) and it is nice now.
