I had read about the cure-all bushing to fix the steering column play. I ordered myself one and once I began digging into it and watching some youtube videos, it seems the bushing is for later cars and doesn't work in the early cars. Does repairing this play in an early car require total disassembly? Thanks for any guidance.

Thats what i've gathered. It won't work on my '70. Is there an easy fix for my car? Or whats inviolved to eliminate the steering column slop/wiggle?

Yes, there is a corrugated version of this that works for early cars. I haven't seen one of those in years though. Maybe a 911 part? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

Might actually be a VW part for Bugs and Karmann Ghia (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Attached image(s) |
