After much work I finally got engine in and running reasonably well. Unfortunately got a leak from the engine mounted oil cooler. Note: I am running minimum engine tins. No tins directly mounted to chassis.
Question is: can I expect to be able to remove the shroud and access/replace the oil cooler with the engine in car or am I resigned to pull the engine again? Thanks in advance |

I've worked on the front of the engine with it in the car, on a lift.
I do not have the surround shrouds installed in the race car (I actually trimmed them back to the head/cylinder shrouds). Getting to the front of the engine is easy now, simple to pull the fan then fan housing (I do not run an alternator). I also worked on the engine front in my street car but had to finagle removal of the front tin bits first, which is a bit fidgety to get around the seals. But I did. I think I'm going to use that procedure next time I have to replace the alternator on it since I can get to it all from underneath and it's all "right there" (instead of going up and down and up and down...) |
