Morning gentleman, I spoke to soon. It’s a 71’914/6, threw it on here as a late night thought lol. We suspect it may be the last one built by Porsche, as in the last one from stuttgart. Vin is 9141430443, according to what we’ve been able to find it’s the last one in the registry for 71’ before going to the VW plant. Car was ordered willow green(43) L63E. The car since has been repainted to a chiffon-ish white and glass GT flares added.
Attached is the new spec sheet , porsche doesn’t offer COA’s unless inspected by a classic center:/ Background is the car was found in Japan after sitting for a quite sometime. No real idea why it was repainted but seems like a honest car so far, original interior, nice tub and floors. I’ll follow up with some pics once the rain passes. Thank you guys already for the responses, hopefully we can figure this out! Dan Attached thumbnail(s) |

Morning gentleman, I spoke to soon. It’s a 71’914/6, threw it on here as a late night thought lol. We suspect it may be the last one built by Porsche, as in the last one from stuttgart. Dan they were all built the same way. 70-72. start to finish. body complete and trimmed by karmann in osnabruk, shipped to stuttgart. drive train and running gear/suspension install there at porsche werrks. idea that there is a stuttgart 914/6 v a volkswagen one is like saying all the mainly US market bound 356Cs, 912s and select 911s built by karmann the same way in the 1960s are Volkswagens. reutter did not have capacity to meet production demands during the 1960s. suspect the VW steering column and ignition components in the 1972 cars is as a result of the improvements made to all 1972 models. incorporation of additional air ventilation outlets in ends of dashboard left less room for array of switches in dash. VW style column made it less crowded for those switches as ignition switch could be deleted from dashboard? thats just my thought. 72 cars also got everything else iike two proper seats. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) i would have thought all the stuff about proper porsche etc would have died out by now. sincerely north antarctica NARP.
