My 914-6 GT Clone came with some pretty difficult to use fixed targa top mounts. They bolt the rear of the top to the targa bar where the factory latches once were. I have all the original hardware to return the latches, which I'd like to do especially after installing a GT roll bar where access to the bolts is limited.

Before I swap back, is there any significant structural reason for these fixed mounts I should consider. I don't mind loosing a bit of rigidity in the top mount for the convenience of being able to remove the top easily. My car is mostly a street runner but I do take it to Lime Rock occasionally. I presume that the GT roll bar I added has also strengthened the targa section of the car and may mitigate any flex in the car from the factory top set up.

Thanks,

John
