Every 6 months I have to retighten the cone screw on the shifter. This time it came out real quick. I thought it might come out all together. I couldn't get 2nd without hitting reverse. The picture shows how much the screw backed out.
Not sure how much torque I applied but I was bending the allen wrench. Questions: Should I have thread locker on this? What is the torque required for the cone screw? Possible that the threads have been widened by repeated looseness? Why didn't they put a bolt through this to really lock the hub onto the shaft? Problem solved. Sort of. At least I can move the car around before making a permanent repair.
While inspecting under the engine, I noticed one of the exhaust bolts is missing. |

Side note, how is progress with your 930? The transmission is being worked on now. Here it's getting a cleaning. Going to clean up the harness and send to Dennis (Timmy2) to have a new harness made. Removing the air injection port to the cat for the emissions system. The pump and valves are long gone. The internals of the cat have partially melted. Found several molten chunks in the muffler as well. Port welded up. Next step for me is to do a bit of welding on the tins then transfer all the parts to Mark's shop for eventual assembly. |
