With time to debrief on last weeks shakedown, I am looking to try a change to staggered tire dim. Wonder if anyone is comfortable sharing their experience.

Currently have run 225/45R15's all round on 7inchers and 225/50R15 on 7's front and 8's rear. But all my running is on older tires so difficult to draw conclusion. Transitioning from DE to road racing.

Basic set up: E-Production, less than 150hp, wide fender, welded diff, 916 brakes. 911 front. 2008 lbs car

Appreciate any insight. Thanks,

For a low hp car, and tight and twisty track (streets of willow for me) i always liked a good 205/50r15 on all 4 corners. Balance is right for a non staggered setup, and low power means you dont have to worry about overpowering the rear tires. I ran in a class that limited treadwear to 200, so the Bridgestone re71 fit the bill well. I also prefer a bit of oversteer vs under, so it depends on your comfort level too…

^^^ This for me too.

Y'all are getting 911-disease. I coached a 911 PCA guy that thought his car was the hots but was always slower. I looked around and the fast guys were running smaller tires. I asked my guy what his tire temperatures were, and he didn't know. We measured and he wasn't getting them up to temp. But he LOVED his big-ass tires and wide-ass wheels.

I suggested go to smaller tires and told him he'd go faster. He refused. I wagered him the cost of the tires that he'd go faster so he relented...and he went faster. And his temps were closer to the tire manufacturer's suggested range (we made some adjustments to get him in there).

It's not about "the stagger" it's about the grip on each end. And if you're not using the grip you have now - solidly within the recommend range of the tire manufacturer - then "staggering" tires ain't gonna help.

Granted, they'll look cool though, parked there in the paddock...

Focus on the basics first.
