It looks like AA Performance in Covina might have acquired the old GEX company that built air cooled engines. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think GEX had a great reputation. My question is, … can anybody confirm this acquisition and has there been any quality control upgrades on the engine building side of things?

i literally am prepping my 1.8 to have AA in Covina rebuild it. its not $1000 i can assure you, a good chunk more but they seem competent and source from several suppliers. would be nice if someone who has dealt w AA performance could chime in

Can you give us any insight? The purpose of my thread wasn't to bash GEX, but more to see if AA had bought them and possibly brought some legitimacy to their old brand. I THINK AA Performance is a pretty well thought of organization? I realize you aren't paying $1000, but I'm seeing a range from around $4200-$7000 for a 914 engine....which seems very reasonable given the cost of parts these days.....if they are reliable, well-built engines. |
