Moving toward dual carburetors on my, 1976 914, 2.0. I know should keep the fuel injection and am being a fool to not use the fuel injection. The car will be a driver, no racing, crusing, fun. Anyway, 2.0, will build a mild engine, mild camshaft, maybe a, 78mm stroker, some head work, back dated heat exchangers with Burch exhaust/muffler. Looking at; 40's probably better drivability or 44's. Not sure on EMPI's or Webers yet. Linkage? Cross bar? has problems and bell crank has problems so a recommendation on carburetors and linkage? Anything else? Thank for the time and information

I have a 2056cc with EMPI 40 carbs. If I were starting a build today, I would be fine with the EMPI carbs but I would've sent them off to be prepped. IIRC Jake Raby supposedly had a process for "fixing" brand new EMPI carbs, and there might have been someone else on the forum who offered that as a service.
Also if starting a build today I would've strongly considered Tangerine Racing's cable linkage. |
