What Now !? .. the Ignition Switch? Options

I cranked on my rebuilt 1.7, a couple weeks ago attempting a first start. All seemed well. The cranking was strong but I was cautious not to stay on them too long. I only cranked about a dozen times or so and gave up after not building any oil pressure - it was getting late and I'd come back to it after the cold, rainy weather past in a few days.

Today I reinstalled a fully charged battery to try again.. turned the key to the first position.. nothing - no dash lights, no fuel pump cycle, nothing. I checked power at the fuse box - #10-12 light up my test light w/ the key off like they should BUT #8/9 does not come on with the key turned on at the first position !!

Just seeing if there's anything obvious I might be missing before ripping out the column switches and knee pad AGAIN. It seems so unlikely that it just quit out of the blue, with no real pressure on it. I did remove the spark plugs yesterday and added some lube, I hadn't unplugged the coil yet though.. but I don't think I hit the starter, though I may have - would that "fry" anything?
