It boils to bottom of the oil warms the oil. It came on one my cars and I just dug it up the other day. I wasn’t sure if this was also used or only used on VW air cooled vans or something else. I did a quick search online and used google lens and nothing came up. The bus ones were different. Or it’s from something totally different and the PO rigged something up. Either way it’s kinda neat, I thought I’d share.

Electric block/oil heaters used to be fairly common in northern states that got frigid in the winter.
