Hello,
Can an aftermarket external oil tank be installed in the factory 6 location without removing the Type 4 engine in a 1973 914? I would like to do all the conversion work that I can before dropping the engine. Thanks! |

Drilling the holes would be a challenge with any engine in the 914. Trying to picture a drill with that 4inch-ish hole bit leaning over into the small engine bay access.
I would rather drill the holes with engine out. |

OP it’s not safe to punch the holes in the chassis with the engine in. |
