2400-2600 rpm stumble with partial throttle, stumble goes away under full throttle. Runs smooth at all other RPMs. Pulled the plugs, a little lean maybe?
Edit 3-17-25 I found a possible cause; worn distributor bushings causing a variation in the points gap. |

![]() I wouldn't ignore the dwell. Could be a real low-cost easy win. Maybe not, but worth doing. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...72087&st=20 Maybe you could find one to borrow. Local mom and pop car repair? |

My 914 mentor, Richard Towle would say that for the Djet
1. Compression 2. Vacuum 3. Fuel - check all injectors 4. Spark - check all plugs 5. Dwell - more important than timing These need to be solid, everything else is, to some degree, tuning. A great deal of attention is always paid to those things we do not understand. ECU, Pressure Sensor, etc. Ignore these and focus on the basics, once you are certain that the basics are in place, then move to the more detailed systems. I ignored the dwell, Richard called me a few times and told me GET THE DWELL RIGHT and I listened. Thank you Richard! RIP......once I got one of the basics solid, lots of little stuff disappeared. Hot Start, idle bizareness, rich/lean results, etc. The note below is my experience late last year, I did everything to the car with the exception of dwell, I could not get my dwell angle set with my Distributor (which I rebuilt) so I purchased another, Dwell angle set to 45 first time and the cars performance increased 2X. My old distributor for reasons yet uncovered, could not set a solid dwell angle. ![]() I wouldn't ignore the dwell. Could be a real low-cost easy win.
