been hearing about a 914 for a while from another michael who drives a cayman.
said he had a mate also a michael, building a GT tribute. yesterday the two michaels dropped by at lunchtime. ......there are normally another two michaels at the workshop (one being a bit wonky). 4 michaels + 2 914s in the same space, first time my 914 has been within 20 feet of another 914 in about.............oh.......16 years. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() made my decade. @Maltese Falcon
its my mates 67 XR Falcon (actually called a Fairmont = top spec falcon lux version). with a 289. he has slightly dechromed it during resto. back in the day had a chrome decorative bar across the tailgate and chrome wheel arch trims. now removed. ![]() car generated a huge amount of interest at 100 anniversary day a couple of weeks ago. really surprised me. people were falling over themselves to look at it. lots of offers to buy. my mate never sells cars. only buys them or gets them gtiven to him. the fairmont came from the same family as the XG ute i restored a few years back. my mate also has a 68 ZB fairlane. with 302. its a sexy beast. whenever he takes it out people dribble all over it. ![]() aussie fords totally based on USA Fords. very very little difference during the run of cars through the 60s. only deviated when falcons stopped in USA. from there the falcons (the hardtop being the one of mad max fame) were unique to aus. but that one which lasted from 72 or so to 79 was still styled in the USA for aus. the XD on from 79 to the end were engineered and styled in aus. the big difference in the aus fords were substantially re-engineered front ends and suspension to deal with crap aussie roads back then. first falcon was the XK. and this is the first one off the production line. ford australia kept it. ![]() when we are not driving our porshes we are driving our fords. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) my mate with the fairmont has a number of interesting 911s from the 70s and a speedster. mike#1 (the mechanic) has three highly original and cosmetically unrestored early model falcons. |
