Man...I dodged a flaming bullet today. Juuuust getting back from a nice, long 90 mile drive - multiple stops, out in the country, etc… but 1/2 block from home and it just died…and then i smelled fuel - BIG.
My first thought that it was goin up in flames. I’d been driving a long time - hot motor…spraying fuel…ugh. I immediately shut it off, coasted to the curb and grabbed the fire extinguisher and expected to see flames as I got out and popped the grille. There was fuel spraying from the right side of the motor and had thoroughly coated the underside of the rain tray. But no flame...wow. After I monitored and made sure it wasn't going to start on fire - lots of hot stuff there after the long drive - I found that an injector elbow had slipped off of the fuel rail right near the MPS. I clearly didn't tighten that enough when I swapped injectors a while back. FOR SOME REASON…it didn’t light off. It's tight now - they're all tight. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) ![]() |
