We went to the 1st Annual (?) Vacaville Porsche Swapmeet yesterday (Sunday, 07/20/03)
We arrived at about about 10:30 or 11:00..... I saw a few of the usual suspects sitting in the sun, hawking their parts as well as a few very nice 914's (I know, useless post without pictures, LOL) Since my 914 is just a bare tub right now, we obviously had to comprimise and take the C2 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) As always the wife (Sherryl) tells me we are not staying long and I better not make her wait in the car too long.....so I get out of the car and start BS'ing with the guys and next thing I notice is that Sherryl gets out of our car and starts checking out this perfect blue '72 914 sitting out in the open.... next she walks over and checks out Christinas car (Dominics wife)....as luck would have it, Christina walks over and I introduce the two and walk away letting them do thier "girly" chat (first thing I hear Sherryl say was how nice the engine compartment was and why a few things are different than the other 914 sitting next to it !!!!) We stayed about 30 minutes and decided to hit the road (took a nice drive up the the new Indian Casino "Thunder Valley" up in Marysville...won 120.00 on Nickles....watch out, I'm a big time spender, hahaha) Now the good part of all of this was that my wife enjoyed meeting Christina and enjoyed talking about her 2.0 914....she even told me that she is willing to start going to a few more swapmeets/914 events knowing that other women actually show up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The bad part??? Sherryl really, really likes the 914s bone stock,so much to the point of recommending that I re-install the side markers which had been removed by the PO. What was funny (to me) was when she asked if our 914 (normally it's only mine when she is pissed at me or the car) will look all stock when done?!?!?! I reminded her that she bought me those rice rims and that the car is getting a cage....hmmm, now how do I make the car look stock with all that and the turbocharger??? |

Mike I can relate. Went to a swap meet a few weeks ago withe my wife, and all that was there are bunch of old detroit iron goodies. Looks like someone pulled all of there rusted parts out of the field and threw them on a trailer, well I come around the corner and what do I spy, a kewl 29 Ford , model A, closed cab pickup, full fendered. ( Check the AVATAR). I go nuts, I tell my wife I love this car itis exactly like the one that I remember from Rod and Custom magazine when I was a kid. So she say's " why don't you buy it", I say Okay. Take it for a drive, talk to the owner. Go to his home the next day, voila, it is my garage.
