My driver side window crank broke off for the second time in about a month (or so)...Brad suggests that I buy a good pair of "Chrome" one's as they'll last longer...
Does anyone have some for sale? |

Same crank as used on late Bugs (screw attached, not roll pin) and Rabbits. There are some aftermarket knock offs sold to the VW crowd, and some of these knock offs have been of poor quality. Maybe that is what you got that failed.
Try to find some OEM VW handles if you have trouble with finding the 914 ones (later 914's actually used the same handle as the Rabbit was using at the time). Just be aware of repro's from china and such. wA wrecking yard ought to be a goos source of the later 914/VW handle. Else try High Performance House. Rich likely has some good ones for sale, either early chrome, or later plastic ones. If OEM they should have a good quality metal "core", not pot metal like the cheapo repros. My 44 year old handles still work in my Bug, 325,000 miles and counting. |
