I had a tube Pre-Amp for a while. I always like tubes in my system somewhere, but I feel you are better off having the'hiss' at the amp level, rather than amplifying the hiss from the pre-amp.

I've got a ST70 somewhere...I think for an Audiophile, it's a right of passage.

I'm on AudioGon every morning. I buy lots of stuff on there...mostly 'tweak' stuff lately though...
