The main planning thread is getting kind of long and it is hard to weed out information,
so I thought I would start a new thread for this specific topic. Here is a map showing the planned tours for each of the three days. Friday - We head out of Moab going south on Hwy 191 (the red line). We turn off and go thru the La Sal National Forest and then Castle Valley. We pick up Hwy 128 going north. Fisher Towers might be a nice stop. Cross the Colorado River and up to Cisco or where ever we decide to turn around and double back. We head back south on Hwy 128. We fork to the left on Hwy 128 (the pink line). The Red Cliffs Lodge is about half way back on the pink line. After dinner, back to Moab. Saturday - North out of town on Hwy 191 (the green line) and enter Arches National Park. I expect we will take the turn outs to the Windows and Delicate Arch either on the way up or on the way back from Devils Garden. A better map of the park will be in a follow up post. A short and simple up and back on the same road for this spectacular drive. Lunch and a hike at the Devils Garden turn around point. Sunday - South again on Hwy 191 (this time the blue line). We take the turn west on the road that goes to Needles Overlook, also called Canyonlands Overlook. One more photo-op and incredible views. Again we double back on the same road to return to Moab for lunch. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Thanks John. I think that it gives all of the participants the pertinent info and bearings for the area. It looks good too! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
