The Zenith 3bbl carb I have, pulled out a idle mixture screw threads last month. Since then I located a set of very clean Weber IDA 3 bbl carbs and am thoroughly cleaning them and putting in a fresh set of gaskets.
I would like to preset the accelerator pump delivery and set the floats on the work bench.
I do not wish to use gasoline in the cellar if possible. Can I use another less volatile fluid ie. paint thinner/mineral spirits without hurting the accelerator pump diaphrams or carb gaskets?
I have one of the PMO gauges to set the floats with.
Thank You

Welcome to our garage!

To properly set the float level on the Webers, you need to attach a special external vial on the carbs and run the motor.

You take note of the fuel level on the vial and make adjustments by adding or removing the shims under the fuel inlet needle seat.

Bending the tabs on the floats like on other carbs is a no-no!

Order the vial. The shims come with it (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
