Up one "click" == slow speed. Sounds like yours works fine on this.
Up two "clicks" == fast speed. Sounds like the high-speed windings on your motor are in bad shape. Not up or down == stop. Down 1 "click" == intermittent. This was optional, and didn't come on all cars. The switch has a stop in it to keep it from being pushed down, but the stop can be removed (and was removed in the cars with the intermittent wipers). It is also possible someone removed the stop from the switch on a car without intermittent wipers, or that someone installed a used switch with the stop removed. Or that you just didn't wait long enough for the wipers to move. Check in the front trunk. On the driver's side cowl support (one of the posts running up and down just aft of the rear edge of the trunk opening, up near the dash) you may find a silver box with some wires running to it. That would be the intermittent wiper relay. If it's there, then you have the intermittent system. --DD |
