Finally mounted the new (to me) autocross tires on the
Boxster 16x7's. Pics attached. The Kumho Ecsta V700 in 205/45/16 fits easily. Unfortunately, I doubt any other 'fast' tire will, since almost nobody makes anything in that size. The new Hoosiers section width of the 205/16 is 10.1"!. Not going to fly without some mod to the fenders. It looks a bit ugly, like too much area around the tire is showing. Other people's cars with these looked better with street tires. Anyhoo, I didn't get these for looks. It was all about getting better wheels on a budget, and having tires that won't wear out driving to the events 100 miles a day. If I ever get spendy, it will be back to good offset 15" race wheels to save more weight. Attached image(s) |
