I am reinstalling my back window after a re-paint. With the butyl kit came instructions from Dr. 914 which talks about having the engine lid removed to do the job. It also mentions reinstalling the engine lid seal before putting the engine lid back on.
I really don't want to remove the engine lid risking marring the new paint in my clumsyness. Can I install the window and rear engine seal with the lid in place and in what order?---glass then engine lid seal or visa versa? Thanks |

take it in the house for a few hours before you start. it will be a bit easier to work with. i did mine in a HOT garage on a summers day. too warm. the butyl got all stretchy. start center top and work your way around. don't cross the butyl when you finish, it will be too thick. don't press hard on the glass and only around the edges. use the light release, blue masking tape to secure it while you are putting the interior trim pieces in.
