Gonna take another whack at getting the tight drain plug out of the trans. I know the case and the plug are different metals, and may very well expand at different rates, the question is would it get tighter or looser if I put the heat gun on it?

A 17mm headed bolt welded into a socket works excellent..... Try tapping on the tool with a hammer, while it is inserted into the drain plug before loosening it..
Also, always remove the FILL plug before the drain.. if you don't do this you may end up with a drained gearbox with no possible way of refilling it because the fill plug is seized- there is NOTHING worse than that! (been there, done that!) |
