Are these hole needed for anything. or can I get them welded up to make the trunk water tight?

Normally they are plugged with plastic caps so I don't see any reason that you can't weld them shut unless you are planning on installing a front oil cooler.
Or you could ask around and see if someone has some plastics plugs laying around. I might have a few in a parts car if you want them. |
