QUOTE I thought no LEs had the sail panel vinyl. That’s true…mostly. The Euro 914GTs (what was to be the LE for Europe but was never produced beyond prototype) had Targa bar vinyl. The factory put vinyl on its Euro 914GTs to set it apart from the standard 914s which did not have it…and the opposite was true for the USA, for the same rationale. There is one LE on my website (VIN 15605 on the Registry) with Targa bar vinyl, but it must have been added later by a PO. 15605 even has a COA which does not list the vinyl as optional equipment…so it was not installed at the factory. This current Bumblebee on eBay must have had the vinyl added later too. This is a very early LE though…it is always possible that the vinyl came on this car before the production line figured out what it was doing. |
