aren't the 914 struts identical to the pre-SC struts minus the 5 lug hubs? Are wheel bearing identical? Can I just switch the hubs (front only).

Vooooo Jaaaaaaa Daaaaaaaaay (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) There's a huge point in swapping the early 911 front end if you want a 5-lug setup. For narrow bodied 914's I think the pre SC front is by far the best way to go. For most people it's the lure to 5-lug and larger brakes. James started an excellent thread on brakes. Read through that. Here's what I see in the early 911 "Boge" front ends (keep in mind the 3.5" spacing first showed up on a Koni strut in 1967). You get: 5-lug wheels (looks nice in my book) A WIDE variety of "914" inserts Beefier spindles Vented rotors Rotors are easily exchanged w/o messing with bearings. M-Calipers (which are an excellent match for 914 rears with a T-Fitting) 18.8mm torsion bars Read this thread in it's entirety. Saves me having to type again (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |
