Pilled the dipstick this morning and this is what I saw. Looks like I'm about to blow a head gasket?. The truck runs good and has never overheated. WTF?. I really don't want to fix this.. First pic bad focus but, you can see the milkshake on the dipstick..

what does the milkshake mean?

obviously bad stuff in the oil..... from where?

You get that from oil and water mixing. You know, these more modern cars have this stuff called "Anti-freeze". Such a PIA when it mixes with oil. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

If you leave it in there long enough, it'll look like this in your valve covers:

(IMG:http://www.qtm.net/~persoj/graphics/valve_covers.jpg)

I found this after I bought an 87 Chevy C10 with a puke EFI 305 in it. Cracked heads. Arg!!!

Seriously - don't pussy-foot around. If you're gunna keep the truck, stick a 302 HO in it and don't ever look back.

Tom

we did a 289 in a prerunner ranger (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif) it was carbed tho....

a 302 will fit and pass smog i assume?

Thats the hopped up 5.0 EFI that come in late 80s to mid 90s Ford trucks (that didn't have the 6 or normal 302). Its not a pre-smog type engine. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

I agree that you should go for the HO. Our F150 has it and its great (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif)
