Was curious how much I should spend on a used WRX EJ20? There is one for sale for 750.00 with ECU, wiring harness and everything BUT no tranny. It might need a rebuild also. What should this cost me, or should I just buy one that is ready to go?

it depends on what you want...if you're a bottomless pit of money then I'd go to gruppe-s.com and get either an sti shortblock and build it or get a prebuilt race 2.5...or my personal favorite the ej207 which came out of the version 7 sti in Japan (a used one...they're currently out of stock) the ej207 is a 2 liter twin-scroll turbo with forged pistons and AVCS...probably the best engine that subaru has made but it will deliever monster power if you tune it (instant boost too)...

or try and find a regular ej20t which is what I have on my '02 wrx...they are just harder to find because of every single 2.5rs owner wanting to do an ej20t turbo swap in their cars...but it's probably the cheapest way to go...and if you don't want turbo...just pick up one of the 2.5rs guys' engines

go to nasioc.com and look through the classifieds or search the site for threads with engines for sale

the ej207 is what I'm go to try and get but it's 3K for a complete engine (which does have less than a 1000km on the odometer)

and you should probably pay atleast $1000 or more for a turbo engine

hope this helps
