Was curious how much I should spend on a used WRX EJ20? There is one for sale for 750.00 with ECU, wiring harness and everything BUT no tranny. It might need a rebuild also. What should this cost me, or should I just buy one that is ready to go?

I payed $900 for my EJ25 (from a 2.5 RS) with complete wiring harness and ECU. It came with pretty much everything needed to run (alternator, all the FI stuff). Found the ad on TheSamba.com
Not sure about the EJ20s, but there are usually a few JDM Subaru engines on Ebay. -Tony |

the non-turbos will always run a little bit cheaper but they are no doubt really good engines...so if you want turbo you'll have to compete with all the swappers
also the JDM single turbo (ej20t) is on ebay for around 550 and the JDM twin turbo (ej20tt) is on ebay for around 550 and again for around 850 *this engine is a mess of plumbing though so I'd be cautious...it also does NOT fit any USDM imprezas because of the steering column and something else because of the second turbo...but it would probably fit a 914 with mods to the trunk so the turbos will fit (i.e. notching the trunk) the problem with these ebay motors that are imported is that they aren't 100%...they usually have about 40-60k miles on them and they cut the wiring harness to get them out which is retarded considering it's probably hard to find another and a PITA to reinstall |
