I finally delivered this car to its owner a week ago. I had it for a year and a half. Work included total disassembly, custom steel rear flares, reinforced chassis, six conversion, full chassis paint job (subbed out).

QUOTE(East coaster @ Oct 20 2003, 12:46 PM) Chris, Do you use the "cut and weld" or the "hammer and dolley" method to achieve your rear flares?? They look great and I'm planning on the same for my car. Do you have any pics shot during the process?? I remove nearly the entire quarter panel from the car. I reshape it with power equipment as well as hammer and dolly. Then I add a little new metal at the perimeter and fit it back onto the car, where I carefully butt weld it. More hammer and dolly work is required after grinding down the welds inside and out. A lot of work goes into achieving that look. Here's one picture. You can see the wooden form that I attach to the car while I'm shaping and fitting the flare. Attached image(s) |
