Will get them from Rich Johnson if they have the same mount dimensions as standard Boxster calipers.

Will get them from Rich Johnson if they have the same mount dimensions as standard Boxster calipers. I dont think so. The bolt spacing is definately the same but I dont know about the offset or height. The BoxS uses the 996 caliper (just painted red). The 996/BoxS stuff bolts right to a base Box (the hub carriers are the same) but I dont know how much the hats/offsets are in the rotor vs the caliper. I have a pair of 996s in the garage if you need me to measure anything, but bill verburg and I had a good discussion on this over on the bird board a few months back if you do a search. The problem is the rotor dims. I dont have my data in front of me but I think they use a 28mm rotor. Different than any other early porsche (except I think a 951). The base box uses a 24mm rotor wich is = to carrera. The 993 and 930 rotors are 32(?) mm wide. The stock 996 rotor hat is all wrong to fit on a 911 hub (and its one piece so you cant simply make another hat). You'd have to find an aftermarket two-peice rotor and make hats. I dont have a clue if the 951 rotor can be adapter to a 911. Its far simpler (and cheaper) to stick w/ box calipers on carrera rotors, or 993 calipers on 930 rotors. I guess its possible to shave the pins (and pads) to fit them over a 32mm rotor like some guys do w/ the 993 rears. Im shimming the bridge of mine so I dont have to mess w/ that every pad change (Im putting 993s on the tail dragger) Best, SMD |
