So, when I started this restoration in October of 2005, I started a progress thread on the Subaru Board (NASIOC) that I active on. I have been meaning to create a thread here, but I never got around to it. I figured the kids over in ricer land would find it more amusing to see a classic resto in action then the folks here that have lived it.
But, I now post more here then I post in NASIOC OT, and feel more involved in the community then I did when I started. So, for the sake of ease, I am going to port over my posts from NASIOC, and posts from today on will be unique here. As I get ready to paint (JUNE 9th - 13th are PAINT DAYS!) this thread will get more active. :-) Zach PS, it kinda fun for me to do this. Looking over the old posts brings back memories of the ride... |

Today after work I put more paint on the car, and also painted the top and both trunks. I still need to do the doors.
I took 3 pics, but only one fo them got anywhere near the actual color of the paint. So, here it is. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm2.static.flickr.com-179-1274378063.1.jpg) I still need to do a lot of wet sanding. Likely, that will start when I get back from Cancun, as I doubt I'll have time to do much of it until then. I have gotten MUCH better at painting. No runs or sags. Not much orange peel (but there is a little). I can see more places that should be filled and leveled, and I may or may not go back and do it. I should, I have PLENTY of paint. but I want to get the painting done and start getting it back together. *impatient* its really nice to see the car as one color again. *REALLY NICE*. There are some parts that I have not even begun to prep yet (the fiber glass rockers, the headlamp covers, and the little parts that go in front of the eyebrow.) I'll got to them eventually. Zach |
