My pal C. Greene lent me an axle with two good cv's thereon.
I dropped the header on the (maybe) offending side, took off the shift rod (and while there milled a cool firewall bushing and installed it to fix other rod-slop) then R&I'ed the different axle into place. We then test drove the 6 car and eliminated the CV's as the issue revealing the crunchy thing in Forrest's first.. gear to be just that.... a condition known as FGC. So with a case af first gear crunch, first gear is toast. I like toast. However, for this engine, (and me),....... I want a good setup for a 901 box with a 3.0-6 pushing it down the lane. Question is: What does one expect to expend on a fairly reliable 901 mated to a 3.0 -6 ? There is no simple answer to the question. My Pal Steve says consider Boxster 6 tranny. My pal Larmo says throw a match on the car while "tuning gas fed carbs with a leaky fuel line and call Geico..." Just kidding ....... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) but the options are few with the age of 901 technology. I am down to plucking the tranny (AHHgin!) .....and pulling the 1st/ reverse stack off and fixing that issue (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) that is,>>> or buying a newly rebuilt box. And then Who Knows? I just want to drive the beast along the way to a good reliable (HeHe) solution... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Any past experiences on 901 repair costs?
