so, the ignition cylinder in my '71 recently quit working, it won't rotate. the ignition key won't quite go in all the way, yet a second, different key will. further, the plate/tab on the back of the cylinder that rotates the column switch has a small piece that is broken off.
part is 914.347.019.00. a quick look online at the usual places only reveals some cheap looking alternatives: http://www.autoatlanta.com/results.php?par...er2=91434790300 it looks like auto atlanta will rekey new cylinder to existing key: http://www.autoatlanta.com/tinyresults.php...0&width=875 i would prefer to keep the orginal part in there if i can repair or even rekey it. the broken plate/tab probably can continue to work fine given how tight everything is inside the cylinder. i can't imagine i'm the first guy to have this issue. what are my options? i'd happily buy a working used one if i could find one... |
