Just returned from the WeatherTech International Challenge at Road America this past weekend with my 914. The event is the big annual vintage weekend at Road America. Overall it was an awesome weekend as always. Car and driver ran great despite hot and muggy weather.

Here’s a video from the Group 8 qualifying race:

A few thoughts…

First, I played it a bit safe at the start and probably could’ve gained a bit more ground on the cars in front of me. That said, races aren’t won in the first (or second turn).

Second, while my car is pretty quick, you can see how the 911s in front me build a big gap on the straights that are plentiful at Road America.

Third, from turns 6 on, particularly in the Carousel I can really make up ground and reel in the cars in front of me.

Fourth, you don’t realize how nice it is to have a drivers side mirror lens until you cook it wide on the exit of turn five and it pops out. Miraculously, it flew into the car and I found it in the passenger footwell after the race.

Now that it’s the Monday after race weekend, life is moving a while lot slower. Counting down until the next race.
