I managed to break my little aluminum plate(?) that the black plastic cover attaches to under the transmission. I bought a new aluminum plate that I now want to install.

I did get all new "O" rings and such and will be careful to put them back in the way they came out. But... in order to get the black plastic cover off I have to remove the pin that holds the shifting mechanism.

I thought this was just a simple "punch out" kind of operation, but now I'm concerned about making sure it goes back exactly the same way it came out.

It would be fun to do this only once!

Looking for advice. Thanks in advance.
