They are kind of like veins feeding life into that Alien looking engine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/assimilate.gif)

More fun with my cheap Harbor Freight router. I spent the last evening machining clearance on this 1" piece of aluminum for the path of the flywheel. I think I have an intimate relationship with this tool. It is so dangerous but so satisfying when the effort turns out and there was no blood or damage to the part you are attempting to carve.

Getting the starter to engage properly was probably the hardest thing I did on my conversion. But it looks like you are well on the way to getting it setup right.

Looks Great!

My final challenge. I have been able to do everything in house for this transformation with the exception of mating the ring gear to the flywheel. (Thanks again Ross) This one I will have to farm out. I need to extend the pilot bearing back 1 7/8" pretty easy to do with a lathe.

Thanks Dave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

I had a text exchange with a friend in Cleveland. He has a lathe and may be up to the challenge of making my extension piece. Here is what I sent him. I don't have any fancy shmancy computer drawing stuff. I'm not a draftsman or an engineer. Just a digital caliper and a pencil. I bet that's how it all started.

All old school.

Here is a photo of the step in the inside of the crank. This only allows the pilot bearing to be pressed in to flush.
