Went to two Target's tonight. They both had more empty Matchbox pegs than full ones.

Since I have never been to a Wal-Mart I thought it might reduce my odds of finding any - so I bought a few on eBay.

My wife came home from WalMart today with two of them - (she didn't know about my eBay purchase). She said "Look one for you and one for Dr. Evil".

It pays to have met my wife doesn't it Dr? You have at least one here waiting for you when you come to visit again in February!

Cheers!

Dammit I had to go into a Walmart! I tried several Targets and toy-r-us, but in the end I wanted it bad enough to patronize a walmart.

But I finally scored a 914 and a Ghia! They only had one 914.

I have been to 19 Walmart / Kmart / Target / Toys'r'Us stores. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/MDB2.gif) I have found a grand total of exactly 1 matchbox 914 model. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

I only found 1 myself. Most shops were completely cleaned out of singles... period.

I picked up a GTI and a classic combo pack as long as I was on the hunt.

I'm seeing purple Ghias around (bought one). Also found a silver Corvette ZR1. Still no 914s at Hagerstown Target, Toys R Us, Wally World. Going to visit some PA stores today...

Well,

Went to Meijers and sorted through a lot of pegs and no joy.....

Went to Biggs and sorted through their huge selection and no joy....

I went to Wallymart and they had 2 pegs left......

Outa the 30 or so cars left , TWO were teeners.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

Now they're are all gone at my Wallymart.

$2.07 with tax for the pair. No high priced Ebay gems for me!

It's been a real Porsche week for me.... Gotta get back to the tranny pulling for next weekend's Tranny clinic....

I spoke to the toy department manager yesterday at my Wallymart and he told me they have several cases of Matchbox in the back and he can not open them unless they can be fully placed on the pegs. The pegs on the shelf are full of everything but 914's. I'll have to keep checking.

Hell ya!

I like the hunt as well. The target I was dragged to tonight by the women had 0 single matchbox. Hot wheels are always fully stocked so I picked up a TR6 (they had 8), and an 81 Delorian (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I still want to find some more Things, another Willies and another Ghia. I need one to store and one to play with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

We had our auto cross awards dinner last night, and a friend of mine scored 4 of the matchbox 914's for me, I they came from a wal mart in MN.

Question for those in the know- mine are all "heritage classics- Porsche 914, 16 of 100" as listed on the box, but they look much more lime green-ish than yellow. Anyone know if there are 2 different colors, or is it more likely they just photographed slightly more yellow for the ones pictured on line, in this thread. If anyone had one that looks more yellow, drop a note to the thread with the UPC number under the bar code on the back. All 4 of my greenish ones are: 35995 30782. There is also a printed number on the back of the package of 3209A1, which is on all 4 packages as well. Interestingly, its printed on 2 of the 4, and pressed into the backing on the other 2, but is the same number on all 4.

A guy at the autocross club has a GF who works for target, and he thought she might be able to look up by UPC the inventory of 914's in different target stores, so if there are different colors, with different UPC codes, that would be good info to have to narrow the search pattern.
